If those of you who have taken the minutes or seconds to read my FACEBOOK page and who are amazed by my stories. Let me, let you know that if you grew up in New York City you life was exposed to numerous social crisscrossing elements in live time, of the famous folks of theater, movies, music as they walked the streets of Harlem like any other ordinary individual and most of the times we allowed them to live there life as any other normal person. One of the numerous folks was Count Basie. Who owned a restaurant and lounge on the corner of 7th Avenue and 133rd Street? I remember pressing my face up against the side window facing Mr. Count Basie, as he, maneuvered his fingers across the piano with grace. At times Mr. Basie would smile my way and I would improvised with my hand as if I was keeping up with the songs he was playing, those were some great days. I couldn’t find the original photos of the club but there is a new version of the original club somewhere in Harlem, I will have to check it out one day.
