If two astonishingly wealthy fossil fuel industry oligarchs spend - TopicsExpress

If two astonishingly wealthy fossil fuel industry oligarchs spend more money through their network of like-minded far right donors than either major political party, I think its hard to describe our form of government as a representative democracy anymore. Its not quite China, certainly not Saudi Arabia, but is drifting perhaps towards Putins Russia in terms of overt, legal corruption. Ironically, the Koch family made a big chunk of its fortune developing Soviet oil fields, which is ironic for such an allegedly libertarian pair. We can have massive infusions of private money into public political campaigns. And we can have transparent representative democracy in which every vote counts equally. But we cannot have both.
