If we are blind consumers now days it is our own fault. I went to Home Depot this afternoon to take a look at the riding mowers since I am semi thinking about buying one. Out front of the store was a line of John Deere, Cub Cadet, and Ariens mowers. Naturally, we are so programmed that we automatically gravitate to the John Deere mowers, but we find that the pricing is quite high. We then look at the Cub Cadet and know from the past that International Harvester meant quality. Then sitting over there are the cheap-o Ariens which used to have a good reputation but now days who knows, and why are they so cheap? I came back home and started looking up the different lawn tractors and found out that Cub Cadet is now made by Murray (MTD) and the quality has been tarnished. The reviews were awful. I looked up and found that a Deere is still a Deere. So then I checked out the Ariens only to find great reviews. I also learned that Ariens and the Sears mowers are one in the same and the price is way cheaper. I think that the only difference is the turning radius. So big deal If I cant cut the corners as tight I would be saving quite a bit of money. Now you know the scoop if you are looking for a lawn tractor. I do like Lowes better than Home Depot, but the Lawn tractor prices are lower.
