If we are going to talk as if freedom is important, we probably ought to really do some contemplative work and find out what is really meant by freedom. When something is so important and yet we continue to think in ways, live in ways that are the exact opposite of it.....can we really continue to say that it is important to us? Maybe it is a word, a reality, we need to recover, and to take back from all the systems and the conditioning that flows from these systems that have never really respected freedom. Systems are in the hands of the powerful and they are about control. We have got to get this settled in our minds and hearts.....you cant use coercion to manipulate and control and at the same time say you are working for freedom. We who have bought the idea that this Nation State was founded on freedom and is a defender of freedom really do need to do some reconsidering. Because it is not....and never has been. Making voluntary sacrifice the operative principle of republican government had proved to be a romantic delusion. Both individual citizens and sovereign states required coercion to behave responsibly.
