If we are not a fascist society, we should be able to acknowledge, - TopicsExpress

If we are not a fascist society, we should be able to acknowledge, respect and tolerate the perspectives of others. You could think of these perspectives as parallel universes, if it seems so deeply disturbing and wrong to you. Society is way more intricate than what is ethically, morally or politically correct, or modern, or civilized or whatever loaded word you want to use to justify the assertion of your own perspective over that of someone else. If we are co-existing in parallel universes, then the binaries and dichotomies that are autonomous within those modalities cannot be compared so hastily, i.e., to say that it is insensitive to use the N word, or that fair is not truly lovely, or what gender equality really means. We are consuming reality through media, immortalizing ourselves in a hyper-reality, engaging in simulacra that we term Society, though there is no One society. There is a plenitude of perspectives. Yes, it is jarring. No, you dont have to accommodate all of them. But, please, get off your moral high horse, because for those who are unplugged, so to speak, you come across just as bigoted, conceited and conflicted as those you put down.
