If we claim to be BORN AGAIN by the power of the Holy Spirit, we must demonstrate what the Holy Bible calls the fruits of the spirit. Especially self-control which allows all the other fruits to manifest themselves. 1. We must be born again from above (1 John 3:2-10) 2. Once born again, we will demonstrate the fruits of the spirit (Galatians 5:22-23). 3. We must master the sin in our lives (Genesis 4:6-7) 4. Anyone born of God will not continue to live in sin because God’s seed lives in Him (1 John 3:8-10). 5. Any man be in Christ will become a new creation (2 Corinthians 5:16-18). Jesus himself advises Nicodeumus, you must be born again by the Holy Spirit from above in order to be a child of God, enter the kingdom of heaven, and have eternal life (1 John 3:2-10). 1) YOU MUST BE BORN AGAIN 1 John 3:2-10 Jesus and Nicodemus 2this man came to Jesus by night and said to Him, Rabbi, we know that You have come from God as a teacher; for no one can do these signs that You do unless God is with him. 3Jesus answered and said to him, Truly, truly, I say to you, unless one is born again he cannot see the kingdom of God. 4Nicodemus said to Him, How can a man be born when he is old? He cannot enter a second time into his mothers womb and be born, can he? Jesus and Nicodemus 5Jesus answered, Truly, truly, I say to you, unless one is born of water and the Spirit he cannot enter into the kingdom of God. 6That which is born of the flesh is flesh, and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit. 7Do not be amazed that I said to you, You must be born again.… 2) THE FRUITS OF THE SPIRIT We will demonstrate the fruits of the Spirit Self-control being one of the most important fruits which allow all the other fruits to grow (Galatians 5:22-23). Galatians 5:22-23 (ESV) 22 But the fruit of the Spirit is:love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, 23 gentleness, self-control; against such things there is no law. In other words, through the process of REGENERATION by the power of the Holy Spirit himself, we will begin to master the sin in our lives overtime. Not in our own power (the unregenerate self) but by the Power of the Holy Spirit himself. We are no longer operating in human power but supernatural power from God. 3) WE MUST MASTER THE SIN IN OUR LIVES Genesis 4:6-7 Cain and Abel 6Then the LORD said to Cain, Why are you angry? And why has your countenance fallen? 7If you do well, will not your countenance be lifted up? And if you do not do well, sin is crouching at the door; and its desire is for you, but you must master it. 4) GODS SEED LIVES IN YOU - BORN AGAIN - WE WILL NOT CONTINUE TO SIN 1 John 3:8-9: Children of God 8the one who practices sin is of the devil; for the devil has sinned from the beginning. The Son of God appeared for this purpose, to destroy the works of the devil. 9No one who is born of God practices sin, because His seed abides in him; and he cannot sin, because he is born of God. 10By this the children of God and the children of the devil are obvious: anyone who does not practice righteousness is not of God, nor the one who does not love his brother. 5) ANY MAN BE IN CHRIST IS A NEW CREATION 2 Corinthians 5:16-18 We are Christs Ambassadors 16Therefore from now on we recognize no one according to the flesh; even though we have known Christ according to the flesh, yet now we know Him in this way no longer. 17Therefore if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creature; the old things passed away; behold, new things have come. 18Now all these things are from God, who reconciled us to Himself through Christ and gave us the ministry of reconciliation,…
