If we go to someone for refuge without a keen observation, we may gradually notice some kind of problems in his actions, so stay away from him tactfully, which is not an act of abandoning the Three Jewels. Think to yourself like this: His way of benefiting living beings is incredible, which is beyond my reach at present due to my shallow faculties. That’s to say, we shall never slander the teacher who has kindly accepted our refuge whenever and wherever, nor try to observe and point out any formal kinds of his misdeeds. 如果我們沒有好好觀察就匆忙皈依，以後慢慢又發現有的上師顯現上可能有問題，那麼可以善巧遠離他，這樣不算捨棄上師三寶。善巧是說要這樣想：“這位上師利益眾生的顯現不可思議，我自己根器淺薄、目前實在無法追隨。”無論如何也不能譭謗皈依上師，也不能觀察他的過失。
