If we had conservatives like this any more, I might vote for them sometimes. He knew the cost of war better than the chickenhawks he warned us against. WW2 was incredibly expensive, 50 Iraqs, Ike oversaw the biggest expenditure our country had ever made and most of the recovery from it. The burden for reducing the governments debt fell largely on the very wealthy and created the largest middle class in history, which created the largest economy in history. Which made the wealthy very wealthy indeed. Then Reagan showed up.....
