If we look at it closely. Selling pure wind energy over the sea - TopicsExpress

If we look at it closely. Selling pure wind energy over the sea to Britain was never a starter, the wind companies must have known that and the British must have known it. You will see how the greens always count 1 mwh of wind as 1 mwh of conventional power. I reckon they were going to build the whole thing as a stand alone export thing but with pylons running nearby. Just when the connection was ready the British would demand fully dispatchable reliable electric power 24/7. This would pressurize the Irish government to mix the midland wind with the Irish grid which by then would be reinforced. The British would be happy, the developers would be e getting free back up fossil generation and the Irish taxpayer and consumer would screwed. Pat Swords forced them to do a public consultation and the response was massive. Moreover the response made it clear that any planning consent would contain conditions that the system must stand alone. They realized their fraudulent scam plans where well known. They were facing possible legal challenges which would prevent mixing of the systems and then they knew it was a non starter. Even if dispatchable constant base load Irish power was on offer from Ireland, it was still too expensive. but when the offer was for priority dispatch erratic wind, it was game over. The campaigns definitely worked in that regard.
