If we want peace, weve gotta work for justice. If we want justice, weve gotta work for understanding and compassion and the capacity to see how others view the world. If we want to appreciate different worldviews (even when we conclude that a given worldview is egregiously flawed, but we learn to appreciate how its holder seems to have arrived at such a weltenschuang--worldview... correct my Deutch:), then weve gotta move beyond mere ad hominem and denunciation. Justice is at its core a call to right relationship and this includes ecology, cosmology, sociology, and probably thousands of ologies...(think Logos, discourse, talk, study, word...) and so, I know in my own case to be sure, the call is ever beyond my mastery. The call to right relationship seems to be first of all a call to recognize my ignorance and my blindness. I try. Or with Thomas Merton putting it so well: Weve got to make do with standing on our own two feet and falling flat on our face at the same time!
