If you are a PhD student who is about to submit your PhD thesis, and wonder what to do while waiting for your PhD examination outcome, then you may be interested in looking into this AMSI Intern program: amsiintern.org.au/ AMSI runs an industry internship program, with particular interest in helping completing PhD students to find industry internships for a short term (4 – 5 months). The student could still work with their PhD supervisors, and both the student and the supervisor will get paid for participating in the program. This is also a great way of building connections with new industry partners, and possibly leading to future ARC Linkage grant applications. If you are interested in applying for an AMSI intern, feel free to have a chat with me. I am trying to get a list of students (and staff) who are interested in this, plus the potential industry partners you’d like to work with. Cate Ballard from AMSI Intern said that she had found 17 intern placements for RMIT University last year, but mostly from engineering disciplines. She is very keen to help Computer Science PhD students on this. Looking forward to hearing from you.
