If you are a fan of Mikes - as I am - engaging dialogue between Mike and David Simon (author of Homicide and The Wire) posted by Mike Rowe! (- what I posted to this post is pasted below - ) Fantastic rhetoric! Beautiful exposition! Loved the all of it!! I take it back- upon hearing the particulars - Mr. David Simon is the furthest he could be from a CHNM (cotton-headed ninny-muggins). Brilliant writing (though I dont necessarily agree with every premise or proposition) and I like what his writing says about the man. (Not diminishing my regard for him in the slightest, I question the underlying notion that any TV story telling, however compelling, has only purist motives or only positive outcomes). Now on to Mike. Given his expression of person-ability and the fact that I have loved (I hold ticket 1,999,999) him for a lot longer than I have been acquainted with Mr. Simon, I believe he will forgive me for addressing him less formally. Mikes reply will do nothing to diminish love from his fandom. If anything, it will secure and enlarge it. He was equally articulate plus humor-full: the sure recipe for an appealing exchange! As a believer in the Almighty - I believe that only He can determine the rightness or wrongness of a thing - human reasoning being naturally finite. His purposes, and the consequences of human actions, extend generationally, not limited to a single point in time. He gives us free will, that tells us something about Him. There is no single way to view a prism or to see the issues addressed between Mike and the other guy:). Respectful debate can be enlightening and hopefully promote better thinking and doing. Thank you Mike for sharing this with us.
