If you are adventurous, try this one. I visited Toraja, Indonesia a few years back. You have to fly to Makassar (with Airasia) and take the bus (about 7 hours up north). Ironically, Toraja was once very famous in the 1980s because they worshipped death. (BEWARE! The pictures are not for the faint-hearted). I visited the tombs not because there was a huge massacre but because they believed that death is a celebration. The Torajans would lavish onto a funeral sometimes loaning from the bank for the sake of hosting a huge celebration. They would slain bulls and was told that they could raise the dead as part of the celebration. The house with pictures on the top are the tomb for the family. You might realized that the structure of the house resembles the Minangkabau rooftops we have in Malaysia. In their culture, a house with many bull horns represents the amount of wealth they have. So, the more horns you have, the richer you are. Haha. Would it be different to us in Malaysia? And to all the COFFEE LOVERS! Starbucks got their coffee beans from Toraja.
