If you are ever in a situation where you feel like youre pressured into giving your phone number even though you clearly dont want to AND youre worried of a bad reaction, just insist on getting their email or info instead and that YOU will contact them for more info if interested. This is a safer way of gaining an upper hand and having a record of that person. I honestly have faced this situation one too many times and end up panicking and giving up my real number out of courtesy. Worst part is getting harassed right after! Or even worse, bumping into them in real life again! Its the way they ask for the number in an intimidating sort of manner that makes me blank out and just do as he says. Almost like youre being robbed in broad daylight. I fear that one day my sisters or friends will have to go through the same situation! So please take heed and be careful of who you meet. Start thinking of ways to protect your privacy in person should it ever come about. If you cant even protect your phone number, think how easy it is to be giving away your bank acc no. and IC number to a total stranger. Follow your instincts when you know something is not right and remember to place self protection above the fear of offending!
