If you are ever road tripping around St. Louis plan an hour and stop by the Cahokia Mounds. Youll get off the highway, pass a weird industrial neighborhood replete with shady bars and a discount drive-through liquor store then emerge at the largest pre-historic site north of Mexico. The museum is small but adequate; it was interesting that their living structures resembled the ones used by the Embera tribe in Panama. Then as you climb the man made mount which over looks what once was a pre-historic city of over 20,000 inhabitants, the Mississippi River and its vast plains, you get a real sense of both our individual impermanence and our ingenuity as a species. It is humbling and inspiring. Safe travels on your Holiday weekend. Un abrazo, --Enrique cahokiamounds.org/
