If you are joining us in reading through Joshua, Judges, and Ruth, today’s reading is Joshua 15:1-14 and the devotion is taken from verse 1. The allotment for the tribe of Judah, clan by clan, extended down to the territory of Edom, to the Desert of Zin in the extreme south. What kind of legacy are you going to leave to your children, grandchildren, and maybe even great-grandchildren? Are you going to leave one that gives them hope and dreams or are you just going to leave them a little cash, maybe some trinkets, and some pictures that are going to be thrown away in a few years? In the past few days we have been in the middle of the description of the legacy that Joshua left the children of Israel. After battling for five years they had taken a significant amount of land. Now as he is old we are being told the extent of those victories. What are the victories in your life? Do you children know the battles that you fought and how God gave you victory? Do they know the answered prayer in your life? And what about the service you did for Christ? What we leave our children and grandchildren will help them in their life. If we give them stories of battles and victories, tales of service and hope, they will also follow in your footsteps. Tell them what Christ means to you and how he helps you in your daily walk.
