If you are like me, I’m not satisfied with the way that I am, I - TopicsExpress

If you are like me, I’m not satisfied with the way that I am, I want more. More of Jesus, more of His Spirit, and more of His Power. I want to not just preach the Gospel, but to demonstrate its Power. I want all the promises and signs that are to follow believers. (Mar 16:17-18). Like the Apostle Paul, I want to persuade not with enticing words of mans wisdom, but in demonstration of the Spirit and of Power. (1 Cor 2:4-5) Paul further says (speaking of his own ministry) “Through mighty signs and wonders, by the power of the Spirit of God; so that from Jerusalem, and round about unto Illyricum, I have fully preached the gospel of Christ.” (Rom 15:19) When Philip went down to Samaria (People who disliked the Jews) and preached Christ to them, they all believe and were saved, the entire city, because of the miracles he did through the power of the name of Jesus. Act 8: 5 Then Philip went down to the city of Samaria, and preached Christ unto them. 6 And the people with one accord gave heed unto those things which Philip spake, hearing and seeing the miracles which he did. 7 For unclean spirits, crying with loud voice, came out of many that were possessed with them: and many taken with palsies, and that were lame, were healed . 8 And there was great joy in that city. After Jesus commands his disciples (and us) to go forth and preach the Gospel (Mar 16:15) He confirms the signs that would follow (Mar 16:17-18), then after Jesus ascended into heaven (Mar 16:19) it says that the disciples… “went forth , and preached every where, the Lord working with them, and confirming the word with signs following.” So where are the mighty signs? I don’t want to just read about them in the history of the Early Church, I want to see them, experience them, and use them. People should not just believe me because of my good looks (True only if you close one eye and squint the other). Or because I persuade them with enticing words of mans wisdom. I cannot convict or convince, that is the work of the Holy Spirit. I want the real thing! If God is going to send me out then He should also equip me with the Power and authority just as He did His disciples. Matt 10: 1 And when he had called unto him his twelve disciples, he gave them power against unclean spirits, to cast them out, and to heal all manner of sickness and all manner of disease. …. 6 But go rather to the lost sheep of the house of Israel. 7 And as ye go, preach, saying, The kingdom of heaven is at hand . 8 Heal the sick, cleanse the lepers, raise the dead, cast out devils: freely ye have received, freely give. Here Jesus first gave them the Power and Authority before He sent them, so why would He now want us to go out powerless? This issue has weighted heavily on my mind for some time, causing me to examine myself with great scrutiny. And the only conclusion I can come to is that I cannot ever be good enough. Yes, I know we are all to strive toward perfection (Heb 6:1) but I can see I have rough edges and often fail, try as I may, I just do not have it within me to be perfect or worthy of a higher calling. In fact, I told the Lord that if He was waiting on me, He was going to be waiting a long time. But then something wonderful happened, and I wanted to share it with you. I was praying about this again the other day and I felt the Lord tell me that I could never be good enough, but that is not what He wanted. “What then Lord,” I asked? “To get more, you need only want more,” He replied. “You mean, You are simply waiting on me to want more?” I asked. “Yes, and how much more you are given is equal to how desperately you seek for it.” He answered. “I see Lord. Then give me all You got! I want it all, and ain’t stopping until I get it.”
