If you are looking to buy a car and have an extra $225,000.00 laying around, this one-of-kind 1929 Cord--which originally belonged to the grandfather of a friend of mine, Lansing McVickar -- still has the original paint it had in the 1920s. And it comes complete with a speaking tube, so can give your chauffeur instructions without raising your voice.... The car has front-wheel drive! The McVickars owned it until 1940. Then a Ridgewood, NJ resident bought it and kept it in his garage, unused, for the next 36 years.... Incidentally, Lance McVickar, whose grandfather was the original owner (and whose father, Harry, rode in this car as a boy), is a terrific recording engineer, who recorded my Johnny Mercer Jamboree cast album, among other projects. Hes one of two recording engineers Id recommend any time, without reservation. Even if his family does not have this cool car anymore.
