If you are one of the 1.4 million Californians who purchased an affordable health insurance policy from Covered California last year, you can renew it beginning October 15, 2014. If you somehow missed it last year, you can enroll beginning November 15, 2014. Enrollment ends on February 15, 2015, and if you want your policy to begin on New Years day, get in early. Good news too. Despite the doom and gloom predicted by those afflicted with ODS (Obamacare Derangement Syndrome), the average rate increase is 4.2%! However, the average premiums for some plans (those with lower incomes) will actually decrease by 8.5% from current rates.
