If you are planning for a year, sow rice; if you are planning for a decade, plant trees; if you are planning for a lifetime, educate people. This is an old Chinese proverb stressing the pivotal importance of education in creating the future of a people. In Mindanao, this is more urgent than ever with children being deprived of education due to civil war. Children here stand to lose their future, and with that lost to violence and more violence in the future if we as global citizens dont stop the cycle. We need to help them sustain their future by giving them access to education. With that, we need money, volunteers, and every little bit that can help these promising young children from such a fragile environment.
