If you are posting photos of 12 year olds long tossing in September to improve their velocity for next spring, please stop and read this (actually read all of my website...) Great post by Mike Reinold -- I continue to see more & more about injury rates and consequences of training & performing on the longevity of a career. The issue is NOT that the college & pro athletes are over-doing it (well, in some instances that may be true!), the REAL issue is how we approach the training & development of the young athlete. This is where we need to intervene and build a solid foundation before the damage is done... Now Im all fired up, there are too many roads to go down with this issue...Ill sum it up in categories: Proper Strength & Conditioning. Variety of Sports/Movement Exposure (i.e. not just 1 sport 14 months a year...**see what I did there**). Proper Recovery & Rehabilitative Strategies. Nutrition. Sleep. You get the idea.... athletespt If you are posting photos of 12 year olds long tossing in September to improve their velocity for next spring, please stop and read this (actually read all of my website...): mikereinold/2012/02/the-real-reason-why-there-are-so-many-youth-pitching-injuries.html
