If you are pregnant in Vancouver, check out this great FREE workshop! I believe EVERY pregnant couple should *consider* home birth. Only because most of the time the reasons people give me for wanting to birth in a hospital are based in (wrong) assumptions and misperceptions. In my experience: *home birthers report feeling less pain in their births *many people report regretting birthing in hospital, where home birthers have a high rate of satisfaction *once parents research the facts about home birth they often choose it Research shows that home birth is just as safe as hospital birth (for low risk pregnancies, which is the vast majority of them), and hospital births result in higher risks of mom tearing, postpartum hemorrhage, and babies needing to go to the nursery for intensive care. I encourage you to go to this workshop and just find out more even if you have never considered birthing at home.
