If you are trying to lose weight it is very easy to think that skipping breakfast is a solution to reduce your calorie intake. But the problem with this thinking is that as you are most likely to begin feeling hungry long before lunch and so for convenience, begin snacking on high calorie, sugary foods to ease your mid-morning hunger. Yet these ‘snacks’ might be of poor nutritional value and so you still end up over-eating for lunch. This in turn, might result in that mid-afternoon slump when you would rather put your feet up and have a snooze, instead of actually doing any work. In addition without kick starting your metabolism through a nutritious breakfast you will probably feel sluggish all morning and so move less and consequently burn fewer calories. Studies have shown that making time for breakfast, even a small piece of fruit can make you more alert and can help in maintaining a healthy bodyweight. But whilst some advocates suggest you should have a hearty breakfast, at Weightloss Revolutions we advise that you eat enough to get you through to your next mid-morning snack through small meals that keep your blood sugar levels controlled and keep your hunger at bay.
