September 2012 Janyias mother was 13 weeks pregnant. Trauma team took mother into surgery not knowing what was going on just they needing to try and save mothers life. Performing surgery Janyias blood and oxygen was cut off for 29 minutes. There was another 13 week fetus in mothers left tube that ruptured causing bleeding. From the grace of GOD mother and Janyia survived. Janyia kept a strong heartbeat. Thru the pregency mother seen a obgyn specialist every few weeks. Everything was going great until 20 week ultrasound showed Janyia wasnt moving waist down and had club foot, diagnosed after birth, Arthrogryposis multiplex congenita (AMC) is a rare condition .It’s a group of nonprogressive conditions that cause multiple joint contractures (stiff joints) and abnormal muscle development.[1] The signs and symptoms of AMC are present at birth but can vary greatly in severity. The exact cause of AMC is not fully understood, but it is thought to be associated with decreased movement or limited space in utero, connective tissue disorders, or maternal illness. Sometimes AMC occurs as part of genetic syndrome. Treatment focuses on the specific symptoms experienced by each individual and may include physical therapy, removable splints, exercise, or surgery. It affects approximately 1 in 2-3000 live births with an approximately equal gender ratio.36 week ultrasound showed brain mass loss and fluid on left venterical. Drs prepared mother they had to get Janyia C-Section and she wouldnt survive birth. God had other plans. Janyia made it. She spent 4 weeks in NICU. Janyia had her first surgery, placement of a Gtube due to her not being able to feed She has tons of Drs, specialist and thearpists she sees everyday. I made this page for support and there are such things as miracles. This is her story. Janyia had a shunt placement which was 2 surgeries due to having to revise shunt in August 2013. Janyia was hospitalized again in late September due to loosing weight and not be able to keep feedings down, she had a GJ tube put in. Janyia has been admitted for other issues between these times.
