If you care about me...then take a minute to READ what I have typed below: Growing up I had these twitches in my face and blinked alot and squinted my face. I was about 8 years old at the time. My Mom thought nothing of it and just thought maybe it was just a temporary thing. As I got older, I came up with new twitches. Not only were the twitches occuring in my face, but they were also occuring in my body. At the age of 10, I was officially diagnosed with a nerve disorder called Tourette Syndrome. Commonly known as Tourettes. Let me start off by saying that Tourettes is not contagious and you cant get it from someone who has it. Tourettes causes someone to make noises; gestures; and movements out of nowhere. We call these gestures, noises, and uncontrollable movements, Tics. We call them tics because they are annoying...just like the bug thats also called a tic. Tics can be outbursts (usually cursing) or (words like no, yes, [someones name] and just commonly used words that you hear everyday) It cant be controlled but it can be slowed down with proper medication and treatment. Therefore, I do not know when I will do these things and I have no way to stop them. I have had coughing tics; head jerking tics; thumb moving tics; punching myself tics; yelling the word NO! tic; eye blinking tic; sniffling tic; throat clearing/gulping tic; and many more. Its hard going out in public & being seen doing it....because people point and stare. But thankfully I can go into a Library and the Movies and I cant be kicked out of places because my disability is covered by the American Disability Act. There is no cure for Tourettes at this time. When I sing, I stop my tics and my Tourettes goes away. To me, thats my cure. And Im sorry if my Tourettes bothers anyone, it bothers me more. I love you, thanks for taking your time to read this.
