If you dig deep enough into what Stephen Hawking believes is out there, its quite radical. Aliens, other populated planets, life-forms that may only exist for a split second in their time but years according to our time. Frozen water, brought to earth by asteroids that resulted in over 70% of earths water source. All of this is reasonable for him to consider, except the existence of a God, or Biblical flood. So it isnt the Christian who has wild outrageous beliefs of miracles, Heaven and Hell. Its a scientist, a man, who insists these elaborate theories exist, though he admits that the only known life we can study is here on earth, and the God responsible for creating it is to him a theory that is both naive and impossible.
