If you do not consume animals, nothing I have to say here has any importance to you. If you do consume here goes... I grew up on a farm. We raised vegetables and animals. We ate some of the animals. We made sausage and soap. We wasted nothing. My mother made buttons, for sweaters she knitted, from the horns. What is being made in this video is a chicken sausage, which the kids eat. Mr. Oliver suggests that these parts should not be eaten because they are gross. Grosser than any other meat? That chicken sucked up resources and was killed to be eaten! The suggestion here is clearly that we waste much of the bird -- such as the skin (good lord this man has never had Sunday southern fried chicken with the skin because what fool would throw away the crispy and delicious best part?) -- and eat only the less disgusting pieces. Considering the resources necessary to produce a meat animal, along with the fact that a living creature is killed to provide it, it is disrespectful to waste a single bit! Suck the bones clean, dry them, grind them up and feed them back to your corn for phosphorous and calcium, then feed the corn to a chicken. It pains me that lard-fried chicken skin is a sometimes food. And so is McDonalds and so many other things. I consider that these children were not failures, Mr. Oliver, but good thinkers. You showed them that chicken came from chicken, they were hungry, and they wanted to eat. Sigh.
