If you do not know of RFTW and the MISSION and the FAMILY.. What follows may give you some insight....R.I.P. The Southern Route lost a dear family member yesterday.... Sgt Dan Jesse, Virginia State Police (retired) Over the years, not only did the Southern Route benefit from what he did but also the Central Route and now the Midway a Route. Sgt Jesse was the trooper who led the contingent of Officers who escorted the SR from border to border thru the Commonwealth of Virginia and also on many occasions stayed to escort us to the Wall. As the economy began to suffer and budgets were tight, Sgt Jesse and his fellow officers took vacation time and paid their own fuel and other expenses so they could still be a part of the RFTW family. They were allowed to ride their State Police Bikes. Sgt Jesse was the leader who pulled off this all volunteer detail in the latter years. When you participate in future Runs and ride thru the Commonwealth of Virginia with the support of the Virginia State Police take a moment to remember Sgt Dan Jesse and honor his service to the thousands of us he served and befriended..... none forgotten...... rftw.org.
