If you dont know Brad Cooper at The Kansas City Star, dont talk to - TopicsExpress

If you dont know Brad Cooper at The Kansas City Star, dont talk to him. I had a voter call me recently, and she asked me, Ive noticed you comment on Cooper... he left me a message about a local story... should I return his call? I explained his dishonesty - he is a passive-aggressive bully who should be treated as such, a less artful liar than Steve Rose who never had the luxury of running his fathers newspaper (out of business) while having a front-page column - and the voter thanked me and didnt call him back. Cooper is the least relevant, least-read political reporter ever at The Kansas City Star - blame it on talent, or The Stars constantly declining readership... or on talent (former Star editors have made off-the-record comments about Coopers incompetence) - but Cooper is the most irrelevant political reporter in the history of Kansas Citys official media. Id like to take this moment to highlight Coopers unprofessionalism. Take a look at this article. I realize Cooper didnt write the headline at The Wichita Eagle, but look who Cooper quoted as his analysts - 3 people: 1) NEA lobbyist Mark Tallman (who doubles as a lobbyist for you, paid by you, through your school board), 2) Sierra Club lobbyist, and 3) a Planned Parenthood lobbyist. Of course, Mark Tallman is not listed as an NEA lobbyist, but only a Kansas Association of School Boards lobbyist. Keep in mind that The Kansas City Star can no longer afford to employ good liars and good activists as reporters, so they are stuck with guys like Cooper. To be politically incorrect -- if there were a short school bus for political reporters, Brad Cooper would be sitting up front. And The Wichita Eagle (The Stars clone) faces the same problems, so it is more common to see the two papers recycle each others content. Another demonstration of The Stars decline is the fact that Cooper lacks the ability and time to maintain contacts in the community. In my comments section below, Ill link to Facebook posts by Star editors, begging people to contact Brad Cooper. These days, we can be ever more confident that The Kansas City Star, which favors government corruption on both the Missouri and Kansas sides, is not viewed seriously by a significant number of voters. It is not viewed seriously by 75% of politicians in Topeka. Ten years ago, honest politicians (whether conservative or liberal) would quietly keep up with The Star to see who was the next public figure to be bullied or defamed by Maria Sanchez, Barb Shelley, Brad Cooper, Lewis Diuguid, or other journalists who have since been let go due to budget cuts. Today, smart politicians dont waste time on irrelevant news sources, and may hear about a Star article a week after its published. kansas/news/politics-government/election/article3683368.html
