McKinney, was killed on 26 October 1944 in Belgium. McKinney was a member of the 104th Infantry Division Timberwolves, 415th Infantry Co. I. Western Union Postal Telegram reads: The Secretary of War desires me to express his deep regret that your son Private Robert L. McKinney was killed in action on twenty six October in Belgium letter follows. Several government letters followed and McKinney was later return to the United States and buried with full military honors near his home in Harnett County, North Carolina. Items donated by the McKinney family to the General William C. Lee Airborne Museum, Dunn, N.C. We are about 5-7 minutes off I-95 at exit 73.
