If you ever hear of anyone that has lost their dog, please - TopicsExpress

If you ever hear of anyone that has lost their dog, please encourage them to contact their local impound immediately, whether it is PUPS or another facility. You can find the information on the cities website. This page is intended to network animals that have not been reclaimed by their owners, to rescue groups. It is not a lost pet site. State law says impound facilities must keep lost pets for 5 business days. At PUPS, the only day they are closed is Sunday, so all other days are business days. At the end of the 5 day stray hold, the animal becomes property of the city that picked it up. If it happens to still be at PUPS, the owner can still reclaim. However, if the pet has gone to rescue, the rescue now owns the pet. If you call PUPS and your pet is not there, they will tell you that. They will not specify if your pet had been there and was gone again. PUPS will not release info about which rescue took the pet. There have been a lot of problems lately, where owners try to get their pets back after the stray hold. Sometimes it is a way to try to avoid paying the impound fees. Most of the rescues that have offered pets back to their owners have not had great results. Many have ended up lost again, almost immediately. And, remember, this page is 100% volunteer owned and operated. PUPS, the staff and the cities it serves are in no way responsible for the content of this page. It is just me, answering questions as best I can. As always, you can contact PUPS directly for more info. 763-494-5999
