If you get [no water] while its melting then, you got encapsulated CO2 in crystallization form. Why would there be water then? What happens when you put dry ice into water? The ice melts, CO2 is produced, but what happens to the water? Nothing. Why? Because dry ice contains no water. So when in crystallization form, nano-micro encapsulated CO2 has no water to be produced from its melting point, whether from flame or body heat. -- Station 1: Dry Ice Experiments / Producing CO2 in a reaction Put a flat chunk of dry ice on the counter and see how easy it floats on top of the counter when you give it a small push. Also see how finely ground dry ice moves around on the counter. Does a puddle of liquid form? No, Why not?
