If you go to Burning Man today, you are likely to find a lot of super rich CEOs who spend a lot of money...and it is certainly not like the old days anymore. (pretty much the gist of every article about Burning Man on my newsfeed right now) Who do these writers think came to Burning Man in THEIR old days? Jesus Christ himself? Did Gandhi give talks on a soap box? Were these writers on that much acid that they remember having hung out with Jesus and Gandhi on the playa in 1996? And now Jesus has decided to stay away ONLY because some CEOs decided to check out the event as well?? And God forbid they are spending more money than you used to when you arrived in Black Rock City in your broken down National Lampoon station wagon? I get it: it is trendy to write about how Burning Man sucks these days and how it is different than 20 years ago. It shows that you had your balls hanging from under your tutu long before the rest of us suckers did. But bashing it in the way you are doing doesnt make you sound smart. It makes you sound like a bitter old sad person who stands on the sidelines criticizing the organic effects of evolution, while the rest of us actually participates in shaping this evolution. You will not be missed, you small minded demonstratively absent veterans. Hasta la playa everyone.
