If you grew up listening to WTAC, you probably best remember Dickey Lee (born Dickey Lipscomb on September 21, 1936) for his great pop hits, Patches, I Saw Linda Yesterday, and Laurie (Strange Things Happen). Are you aware that the Memphis singer/songwriter began as a rockabilly singer on Sun records? After his early 60s series of pop hits, Dickey went on to chart 29 country hits from 1971-82. His version of Rocky in the summer of 75 went to #1 country...the Austin Roberts pop hit reached #9. HAPPY 78th BIRTHDAY TO DICKEY LEE!
