If you happen to go to the VOB web site and peruse the villages, organizational chart, youll notice that the residents are at the top and the village board is accountable to the residents. What Id like to hear from all of you on this FB group are your thoughts on the following: Our water rates have gone up due to the City of Chicago raising their rates. Our sewer usage fee has remained at 27.1% in spite of the increase in rates. Lets put that into perspective and give a hypothetical situation here: Your water usage portion of your bill [prior to the full rate increase of apparently 45%] was $100.00-your sewer usage fee was $27.10, or 27.1% of the water usage. Fast forward to when the full increase takes effect. Your water usage portion is $145.00 [reflecting a 45% increase in the rate]. Your sewer usage fee is now $39.30. The village essentially receives a 45% increase in the sewer fee revenue without even having to pass an ordinance to get more money. How many of you would like to see the village lower the percentage of the sewer usage fee back to perhaps 18-19%?
