If you have 3 books, 2nd books audience is half of the first, and the third books debut only reaches 10% of the first book - you shouldnt look at the industry or social media to blame, but perhaps the quality of your work. Comics tend to be pretty forgiving of mediocrity, so i dont know what else to blame if you cant even stagnate. Also, leaving social media because it makes you feel icky promoting yourself is a pretty fatal misstep, when theres 18 year olds finding an audience of 1000s before they even graduated high school. If your response is that he REALLY IS a great or good cartoonist (i dont have an opinion specifically toward him either way, i didnt read his comics) then youre more likely in the group that hasnt supported his work than in the group that has - so what are you really supporting? That everyone succeeds regardless of quality of current work, but should be measured only on their critical reception on past work?
