If you have NOT received a Social Security Card for your home born baby born before 07/01/14 please send me a private message. I am making a call to VA Vital Records and would like to streamline the process! Birth certificates have been returned multiple times months after submission or resubmission making this very confusing and frustrating. Sorry for any inconvenience. If you need a Proof of Birth Letter for insurance or your records in the meantime, I can email or mail one to you :) I am negotiating with them the need for midwives to have access to the same electronic reporting software that hospitals use. VA midwives you may want to be prepared to write letters or make sure your clients are receiving social security cards too. FYI - regardless of where you birth- home, hospital, birthcenter, etc. parents must order a copy of the birth certificate themselves. It will not come automatically, but the social security card will.
