If you have a child in the Brandeis High School Band, encourage them to be active during the summer and stay hydrated. This is the best way to keep all the kids in shape and ready for band camp this summer. If your child is a freshman, it is tough to adjust to the rigors of high school band camp. It is hot and the kids have to be able to stick with it in order to make the marching program a success. Yes, it may cool off later in the Fall, but during the summer and first month of the new school year is when they learn the "basics" and begin to polish the entire program. It is not unusual for the band to practice in 95 -100 degree temps. If you have questions, post them here...this is you "ask a band parent" channel on Facebook... GO BRONCOS!
