A disproportionate number of fatalities occur along the Dixie HIghway Corridor due to a combination of dangerous factors that have gone unaddressed for far too long. The Dixie Highway Improvement Project, or the Dixie Do-Over as its been dubbed, will seek to reverse these trends through a variety of improvements including new medians, revamped sidewalks, and better lighting. Constuction is set to begin next Sping. While the construction phase will no doubt cause some inconvenience at one time or another, please remember that reversing these tragic statistics and building a safer community is the ultimate goal as we experience some growing pains.
