If you have been following the international news, you are aware of the current problems taking place in Iraq. As I watch what is taking place over there, I can’t help but reflect on how it was just (JUST) a mere 10 years ago this coming November that I had the distinguished honor of going to Kuwait and Iraq to visit the troops. That was unquestionably one of the most incredible experiences of my life. To this day, I can still see the faces of those 3,000 plus airmen and soldiers I met at multiple outposts scattered throughout Kuwait and Iraq. I have to tell you, it makes my heart swell with pride. To this day, people still ask me…”Ray, why on earth did you ever want to go over to Iraq?” Well, the answer is very simple – it was an opportunity to personally extend my most heartfelt gratitude for the commitment (and often ultimate sacrifice) being made by our men and women in uniform. So my request is this, let us never forget that while we enjoy our daily lives, shared time with family and friends and sleep in our own beds – remember to say a prayer every day for our men and women in uniform who are standing guard around the world protecting our freedom. And yes, if I ever had the opportunity, I’d go right back over there again.
