If you have been invited to a "private" event via Facebook, the only way to view the information is to click on "Maybe" or "Join". You will then be able to see all of the event details. At that point you can decide whether or not you would like to attend the event. You will have the option click on "Decline" at any time. If you click on "Maybe" or "Join" but do not want to receive updates or notifications about the event, you can turn off the event notifications for each individual event via the cog wheel, drop down menu.
