If you have not seen this documentary from National Geographic, you should. It is about a Company of soldiers in 1967, draftees who went through basic training and were kept together as a completely new Company to be sent to Vietnam whole rather than broken up and the men sent as replacements to other Companies. These men were called to duty and did so, serving with Honor, Pride, and Courage. Out of 160 who arrived together, 26 were KIA, 105 wounded in action. Over 80% casualties. My Uncle Frank Bolinger, my moms middle brother was there around the time this took place. My dads brother Roy(Construction battalian) served 3 tours. My Great Aunts youngest son David Hicks was also there. All Volunteers. Even though I tower over them in size, I will forever look up to them, standing in their shadow and the shadow of all those who served with such courage and honor in a war they were not allowed to win due to political cowardice in Washington youtube/watch?v=MjVUsO7adPw
