If you havent been out to the Harry J McDonald Memorial Center - TopicsExpress

If you havent been out to the Harry J McDonald Memorial Center since its grand reopening on Saturday, youll want to. The MAC has never looked so good! The largest upgrade to the facility is a new CO2 direct refrigeration system. This groundbreaking technology has proven to be safer, more efficient and reliable than traditional Freon systems. The CO2 direct refrigeration system has been used in other parts of the world, but until now, this technology has not been used in the U.S., making this investment by the Municipality a milestone for ice sports in Alaska and the U.S. Other upgrades to the facility include new dasher boards, glass, facility system controls, and cosmetic improvements throughout. The project came in under budget at $3.5M. The remainder of the $3,920,887 State capital improvement grant will be used for additional facility upgrades and improvements. I’m pleased to see our public facilities being upgraded with state of the art, efficient technologies that will reduce operating expenses and last years into the future. I would like to thank everyone involved in making the renovation a reality! The project was completed by Mantech Mechanical, General Contractor, and their team including Graff Contracting, Redi Electric, CCI, Hill-Phoenix and Microthermo.
