If you havent seen this movie and are a fan of exploring concepts - TopicsExpress

If you havent seen this movie and are a fan of exploring concepts through various philosophical lenses, you should watch this. This film cinematically explores various themes and concepts regarding nature (both internal and external concepts), gender, and gynocide. Note: Look up Gynocide and the history of that. Im writing a paper on this and the only problem I have is not knowing which psychological theorist and theory fits best. It could be: 1. Karen Horneys Basic anxiety, and/or her anti-Freudian theories on the psychology of women (which would definitely include the theory of womb envy, which in its respective day added balance to Freuds penis envy theory). 2.It also fits Erich Fromms Freedom theory (as the movie reminds us that biology shows no actual favoritism between its earthly inhabitants, that safety is most definitely a manmade structure), which states that since humans have gained more freedom by transcending nature and other animals, people have increased feelings of separation and isolation due to having the awareness that everything dies. It also fits his resulting concept of the two different Escape Mechanisms. Because this movies themes are buried deep, making it hard to understand, Im going to post multiple commentary links below. Read them before, after, and/or during watching this film. EDIT: Read them AFTER! Ha
