If you havent visited us in a while, heres an update on some recent considerations. 1. We are quite low on a lot of jewelry and until a few orders come in in the next couple of weeks, there is a high likelihood we may be out of the jewelry you need. We have started wait lists for appointments for when the jewelry is restocked. We realize this can be a huge inconvenience for you and us as well. We want nothing more than to be able to pierce clients. We dont tattoo, and we dont have a large clientele. Our jewelry budget is pretty minimal without other sources of income like tattooing, so when the demand for jewelry from shops all over the country is a little higher than the production abilities of the manufacturers, we are left at their mercy. We wish we had the working capital to stock three or four times the amount of jewelry than what we actually need, but if we did at this point we would have to raise our prices again instead of trying to keep them somewhat competitive for our wonderful clients. We would like to think that our service and our attention to the best quality is what helps separate us from potential competitors, if we could do something to speed up the process we would. Right now we are stuck in the water until the next order gets here. If you have time and patience, and would love for us to give you a great service, we highly encourage you to sign up for a wait list and ensure your place in line when the jewelry arrives. 2. We stopped taking credit cards a while ago. At first it was out of necessity because of technological glitches. While it was a minor inconvenience for our clients, we really did not miss out on many sales. In fact the exact amount of sales we missed out on totaled almost the exact amount of money we would have paid in credit card processing fees for the month. So we decided to stop taking credit cards altogether. This includes debit cards. In an effort to try to better our own personal financial standings and get ourselves out of debt as individuals many of us have sworn off using credit cards in our home lives (check out more by reading Total Money Makeover by Dave Ramsey). It doesnt feel right to continue encouraging the banks and credit system to our clients when we disbelieve in their use in our personal lives. It also takes several days for our money to be deposited when you pay by credit, meaning we have less access to it if needed for things like rushing jewelry orders or trying to track down hard to find specialty pieces for you (see item #1 above). In addition to this, should the bank or credit processor (which is still owned by the same umbrella corporation that owns the bank we use too) have an issue with our account or miscalculate something, they have instant access to our limited funds before we can even prioritize the moneys use. This could potentially mean no payroll, no timely jewelry orders, etc. While its not likely this would happen, we are tired of worrying about the potential. If you absolutely refuse to carry cash on you, we will consider taking local checks with matching contact information. There are also Wells Fargo and Bank of America branches within two blocks of our studio, and a Chase branch just a little bit further than that. All have working ATM machines as well. We dont want to be a hassle, but were trying to do new things that will ultimately make our service to you much better. We thank you for understanding and we mention this all to maintain complete transparency. Its been almost 10 years since the first Anomaly location on Green Street was opened and weve done a lot and come a long way. We look toward the future and are excited for the possibilities it holds. Please bare with us over the next couple of weeks while we try to stabilize and regroup, and please continue to show your support and encouragement if you feel so compelled. We really appreciate all the positive feedback weve received from our established clients and we look forward to being able to serve new clients very soon as well.
