If you keep up with me you probably know that I lost my voice box to cancer and now I have a button on my throat that I push when I need to talk. The system works rather well and Im really getting good at it. I do love watching peoples reactions to the situation, though. I was talking to a nice man at the auto parts store. I could tell that he was fascinated with the voice thing. He told me that my battery would be ready in 35 minutes. He asked what my name was. I grinned and said, John, but nobody every forgets me any more. He said, you got that right, I wish my six year old son could meet you. I replied, Yeah, kids really seem to like the voice thingy. He said, My son really likes science fiction stuff. He would love to talk to you. I laughed and remarked, Well tell him you talked with Darth Vader today. Somehow I just enjoyed that interaction.
