If you like the poem Follow The Book (with a zendala) that I reposted the other day, by Claude Spence, you might enjoy the first chapter of his next book, which should arrive in springtime. The story in brief here, the first chapter in the link. --- It is 1972 and Big Bill Beloit lies in a coma-like state in the Green River, Wyoming hospital, which draws his grandson, 30 year old Bill Beloit III, better known as Trey, back to the home front. Big Bill has known of a spiritual attraction or attachment to a Native American, a Shoshone who was called Walking Dog. Trey will have an even stronger spiritual attachment to Walking Dog, as his mind travels back in time. Judy is the night shift Charge Nurse tending Big Bill. Her ties to Trey and Big Bill culminate with deeper ties to Walking Dog as well. As the story unfolds and Trey learns the secrets of Big Bill; his wealth, his philanthropy, his spirituality, and his connection to Walking Dog, and how this will affect and change him and all he believes. He will also discover his attraction and attachment to Judy and her connection to Walking Dog, and the Shoshone maiden, Rising Moon, who waited for Walking Dog to return. Walking Dog spent the last years his life trying to catch a wild stallion to gain the hand of the Chief’s daughter. Could it be after all these years and generations their spirits and souls are finally to be united as Trey and Judy?
