Activist Pradeep Indulkar claimed he was punched by inspector R S Shirtod inside Naupada police station on Friday. He reportedly went to the police station to enquire about a complaint he tried to file on Thursday against deafening music blared by a mandal. “I asked them about the legal action taken against the mandal for violating the law. Instead of responding to my complaint, senior inspector J D More flared up. He got off his chair and held my hands while Shirtod repeatedly punched me on my face and my eyes,’’ Indulkar said. He said Indulkar was detained in the police station till 10pm but his complaint was not registered. “Indulkar called up the police control room four to five times to complain about police’s inaction.After returning home, he sent a mail to police commissioner K P Raghuvanshi about the Naupada police’s behaviour, ’’ Deshpande said. When he didn’t receive any response on Friday, Indulkar again approached Naupada police to know the status of his complaint. Senior inspector More denied that Indulkar was beaten up.
