The staff at the studios were absolutely lovely and extremely friendly, making us feel at ease. We are absolutely overwhelmed by the positive responses from people and the media coverage. We have had two BBC radio interviews with Adrian Chiles, appeared on the ITV News and BBC News, have the Sunday Express round tomorrow and also made the front page of the Daily Mail for two consecutive days which is extremely rare; all in the space of a week! All of this recognition raises awareness for families who have a relative in a care home/choosing a care home and that you perhaps should not always trust your local authorities and carry out a thorough investigation yourself. The Care Quality Commission is supposed to publish their reports but in this instance there was an administrative error. Should we have been made aware of the failing care home, my grandmother definitely would not have been placed there and we would not be in this situation where we are having to cherish every last moment with her because we do not know when it will be the last - we do know that unfortunately this is soon. It has also come to our attention that previously the CQC HAVE ALLEGEDLY ACCEPTED BRIBES TO KEEP THE ‘BAD’ REPORTS SECRET (something we are now going to explore!) So despite this all being a little too late for our family, I urge you to investigate each care home with a toothpick, and demand to see reports from the CQC (whilst also double checking if there were any administrative errors and not always trusting the authorities - DO IT YOURSELF!). Pain has a way of making you act in different ways and truly showing who is there for you when times get rough. After all REAL isnt whos with you at your celebrations...REAL is whos standing next to you at rock-bottom - for my family we just want to do good out of an awful situation and have definitely seen exactly who is there and who isnt unfortunately. Even if what my family are doing helps just one person, then as far as we are concerned we have done a good job. Of course we cannot mention any legality but as you have seen in the press the police are now significantly involved in our case as well as other legal proceedings and will keep you all updated where appropriate.
