If you really want to understand CHOMSKY, in what I believe is one of his most important and useful works, you need to watch this FILM. Manufacturing Consent based on his book, is about how the media manufactures public opinion to make it docile, and to accept policies that most peoples in their decency would not accept. Chomskys analysis in made more powerful by his scholarly research on the topic of Human Language, which has been his area of study at the MIT. It reminds me of the other spectacular author on how language is used by structures of power --being on the left or at the right: George Orwell (1984). One of the most effective ways to combat this modern OPIUM by the new religions of Consumerism and the current celebrity culture, is to adopt the wonderful Decalogue of British philosopher Bertrand Russell [tinyurl/BRussellDecalogue]. My favourite: Be scrupulously truthful, even (SPECIALLY - JOHN) if the truth is inconvenient, for it is more inconvenient when you try to conceal it. In other words, try to THINK with your won head!
